At the bottom of this message is a copy of the "Notice of Public Hearing and Proposed Certification of Second Final Environmental Impact Report for Del Puerto Canyon Reservoir Project." If they are able to move forward with this, that means they could start permanently destroying this area of the canyon that we've all been fighting to conserve! Prepare for possible public comment opportunities at Del Puerto Water District's August 19th, 2026 meeting. They will be holding their hearing at 8:30am at 17840 Ward Avenue, Patterson, CA 95363. From some of the speakers they've lined up, they will likely try to present arguments presenting all of our concerns as misunderstandings, tout their authority to build the proposed reservoir, and try to tell us who doesn't have standing to oppose their plans.
While we listen to what they have to say, we must remember to tell them that our opposition is here to stay!
Reach out to any groups you may know who might be interested in looking at and challenging this EIR or pursuing their own separate legal cases to try to stop this project.
Reach out to any lawmakers you may know who might be able to introduce state-level bills to block this project. Many public officials, even those who represent other parts of the state, have the power to introduce laws that apply statewide to determine the outcome of this project and others like it.
